Sewing Machine Tension Replacement Coventry

Many sewing machines come fitted with a tension control dial that is used to control the tension of the upper thread.

When tension is correctly set, the top thread and bobbin thread will produce uniformed stitches. When the tension is too tight, the switch will begin to pucker and break.

If your sewing machine tension is too loose, the stitches will also be very loose.

Common issues associated with sewing machine tension problems include:

• Skipped stitches
• Thread too tight
• Thread too loose
• Tension unit broken

It should be noted that unless your tension unit is actually broken, a tension problem can often result from other factors not associated with tension problems such as bent or dull needle, poor quality thread and lint or thread caught in bobbin tension discs.

singer brilliance x i€™m not sure whether a tension or a bobbin/hook or timing problem. the machine moves fine when manually turned and picks up the bottom thread. when powered either the top thread immediately snaps or the top thread will tangle, the whole system will jam and then needle occasionally snaps.

Amy

the back stitch mechanism doesnt appear to be working but it may be a tension fault.

we replaced the needle in our singer empress sewing machine and post needle replacement the thread will now not catch on either cotton threads or on upholstery thread either. we think it might be a shuttle problem or maybe a tension problem, we aren`t sure.

i have an old singer machine which i`ve been experiencing some issues with. the machine was purchased second hand so i`m unsure how old the model is. the machine is running very slowly and there is often issues with tension and thread gathering under the throat plate. the machine has never been serviced to my knowledge and is basically unusable in its current state. I was wondering if I could get a quote for how much a servicing would cost? thanks

Drew

i have a domestic sewing machine janome j3 20 not sure of the age as I bought it 2nd hand about 5years ago it has served me well but now seems to have some tension problems. it often skips stitches and is too tensesnags on the bottom stitch. it will start off stitching fine then skips a lot then is fine then skips etc etc I have tried changing the needle thread loosening and tightening the bobbin screw changing the tension dial.. but I think it needs a general repair service as it may be quite old. im sure the main issue is the tension. are you able to quote me an estimation of how much it would cost to get it checked over if it is something simple that I can fix myself I would rather be informed than pay out for unnecessary labour. I live in the bs7 area does it cost extra to arrange for the machine to be collected and also would I need to provide the pedal thank you steph
