Sewing Machine Tension Replacement Lewes

Many sewing machines come fitted with a tension control dial that is used to control the tension of the upper thread.

When tension is correctly set, the top thread and bobbin thread will produce uniformed stitches. When the tension is too tight, the switch will begin to pucker and break.

If your sewing machine tension is too loose, the stitches will also be very loose.

Common issues associated with sewing machine tension problems include:

• Skipped stitches
• Thread too tight
• Thread too loose
• Tension unit broken

It should be noted that unless your tension unit is actually broken, a tension problem can often result from other factors not associated with tension problems such as bent or dull needle, poor quality thread and lint or thread caught in bobbin tension discs.

have an old singer 211g (1960`s 1970`s?), that I require a service and any adjustment needed to make it sew correctly. it`s an old family heirloom so desperate to get it function correctly. it usedto sew correctly but now doesn`t. it jammed while sewing and after the top thread started to loop massively underneath the piece I was sewing. I thought it was top tension, or out time. so I adjusted/ reduced tension but it didn`t improve matters. I even got a complete new tension unit because I had a problem with the tension disc adjustment screw. still didn`t improve. also the timing looks fine, as the needle still picks up the bobbin. confirmed when you look at the rats nest under the work. you can see that the bobbin still goes through the loops of the top thread. it still suggests a top tension issue. so i`m stumped. need an expert to look at it, as i`m a newby. might be a simple fix. just need it adjusting to sew correctly, servicing and a clean bill of health. being an old industrial machine, and not used for a while, it just needs a once over. I can bring it in, no problem with that. thanksupdate: got it sewing, but only with the top tension sew tight you can hardly pull the thread through. still needs looking at.

hello! my brother quick system needs a full service please. has been regularly de-linted etc but hasn`t had a proper clean for around 10 years and is refusing to stitch properly. bobbin thread seizes up and the tension is haywire. it`s in regular use. if you are working in the current situation, i`d be grateful to know if you have slots available and what sort of turnaround you`re dealing with. hope you`re well, stay safe :) annette
