Can any sewing machine be serviced?

hello I have recently bought this machine second hand. though not advertised as such it quickly became apparent the machine is broken. the needle arm was getting caught on something and so the machine was jamming. I took off the cover to have a look and saw it was getting caught on the auto needle threading device and so took off a few parts to adjust this and see what was causing the problem. it seemed to be the case that the needle bar connecting stud was catching on something I re positioned this slightly and added some grease to the arm as it wasnt sliding smoothly. not realizing this would of course mean that the needle arm now isnt picked up properly. when I tried to tighten the connector it broke. so though the needle arm now isnt getting caught on anything it is still not working properly. I also think there might be something wrong with the mechanism of the auto threading device as this does not seem to move smoothly in the way that it is supposed to. does it sound like this is something you might be able to fix I realize it is not a particularly well known model but I would appreciate it very much if someone could have a look at it to see if there is some way of fixing it. thanks in advance tyche
