hii am relatively new to sewing and have used this inherited machine to make a cushion cover with no problems. a friend has also successfully used it. but recently I wanted to gain more confidence with it so I tried out just a simple row of stitches. it worked well at first but after 2 or 3 practice rows the thread began bunching and knotting. I rethreaded the top thread but no change. I rethreaded the bobbin and gave it a little brush out gently inside and used a bit of the sewing machine oil provided. there was no improvement. ive adjusted the tension changed the thread brand and I have also rethreaded it all again and following that it just sounded terrible and then wouldnt sew at all. it just made a loud hum noise but the needle wouldnt move. id like to know whether its worth fixing as it will be at least 10 years old or whether a simple service can solve the problem. I want to book onto a dressmaking course for beginners so that I can rule out human error but I cant until the machine is either fixed or until I replace it. I would really appreciate any advice or a quote for service repair.
